Deciduous
Deciduous shrubs lose their leaves in the autumn. Often they have a stunning flower show or an interesting leaf color or texture that provides beauty throughout the growing season. Some remain interesting in the winter months with colorful bark, berries or seed pods. Deciduous shrubs have many uses in the landscape including: foundation plantings, hedges, privacy or even as a focal point.
Evergreen
Evergreens provide wonderful color with year round interest in the landscape. An ‘evergreen shrub’ is a medium sized woody perennial plant that has needles or leaves in all four seasons. This contrasts with deciduous plants, which completely lose their foliage during the winter. Evergreen shrubs act as wonderful living fences, hedges, foundation planting and specimens in the garden.
