Pick-up 

Customer assumes full responsibility for material once it has left the nursery. It is the customer’s responsibility to inspect the order for damages and/or shortages before leaving the nursery. All loads must be properly tarped before departure. If you do not have a tarp, you may purchase one in our showroom.

Will-Call 

We offer will-call appointments to facilitate faster loading of your order. With 24 hours’ notice, we will pull and stage your order, when you arrive, simply head to our showroom and our friendly staff will ring you up and direct you to the appropriate loading area. Same day appointments require 4 hours of lead time, all appointment times are based on availability.

Delivery 

Locally, we operate multiple trucks and trailers capable of making up to 8 deliveries each and every day.  Unloading of material is the sole responsibility of the purchaser.  Saturday delivery is also available at no additional cost. 48 hours advanced notice will ensure you get your products when you want them.

Tagging Policy 

LSI will be happy to tag and hold specific product for our partners in exchange for a small 50% deposit. If you currently have terms with us your deposit invoice must be paid within your specified terms otherwise your tagging ribbon is removed and the order will be cancelled. If you do not currently have credit established with us your deposit must be paid the day your order is placed via cash, check, or credit. Please call ahead to schedule a tagging appointment, and we will be happy to help you find what you are looking for.

Vendor Deliveries 

Enter Brest Rd. from Telegraph Road. Please stop at the sign on Brest Rd and call 734-946-7000 to inform us of your arrival. Someone will then come out and direct you to the appropriate unloading dock.

Nursery Stock Dealer License 

In order to purchase from us/register as a partner; we require proof of your Nursery Stock Dealer License.  The following information is located on the State of Michigan website.

Those who buy and resell winter-hardy nursery stock*, any portion of which is not Michigan-grown**. A Nursery Dealer License is required for each location or vehicle from which sales occur. Cost: $100. Inspection Frequency: Up to every other year

*Winter-hardy nursery stock includes trees, shrubs, perennials, mums, fruit trees, berry plants, rose bushes, vines, herbs, and bulbs that are capable of surviving the winter, without special care, when planted outdoors in USDA Plant Hardiness Zone 6 (see planthardiness.ars.usda.gov.) Annual plants, cut flowers, Christmas trees and greens, cut herbs, and Chrysanthemum not advertised as hardy are not included.

 **Michigan-grown nursery stock includes nursery stock grown by a licensed Michigan nursery grower and inspected and certified by the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development. Nursery stock purchased from a licensed nursery dealer (including most retail garden centers) does not qualify as Michigan-grown. Nursery stock purchased from a licensed nursery grower without having been inspected and certified by the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development does not qualify as Michigan-grown.

Licensing FAQ Revised 14 January 2019

Q1: Who needs a nursery license?

A1: Any person, firm, partnership, association, or corporation engaged in the business of growing, selling, or reshipping winter-hardy perennial plants must be licensed in Michigan. Winter-hardy perennial plants include trees, shrubs, perennials, fruit trees, berry plants, rose bushes, vines, herbs, rhubarb and asparagus crowns, strawberries, bulbs and other plants capable of surviving the winter, without special care, when planted outdoors in USDA Plant Hardiness Zone 6 (see planthardiness.ars.usda.gov).

Q4: How do I apply for a new license?

A4: Complete the application form at www.michigan.gov/mdardnursery or contact Lisa Leibrand at 517-284-5656. There is currently no way to apply for a license online.

Q8: When do nursery licenses expire?

A8: Licenses issued before September 1st expire on October 31st of the same year. Licenses issued on September 1st or later expire on October 31st of the next year.

 Q9: What fees are required to obtain a license?

 A9: Nursery Grower and Nursery Dealer licenses are $100 per year, Small-scale Nursery Grower licenses are $40 per year, and Registered Nursery Dealer licenses are $35 per year.

Q15: What is the legal basis for the licensing and inspection of nurseries in Michigan?

A15: The “Insect Pest and Plant Disease Act,” Public Act 189 of 1931, is the primary statute that regulates the sales and movement of nursery stock in Michigan.
